Whenever a landowner seeks our help in protecting their property via a Conservation Easement (CE), it’s an expression of that person’s belief in a viable future – one in which natural lands are kept in their natural state and kept out of the hands of developers. That’s the reason MMLC exists.

Clinton County


1. This property consists of 423 acres along the Looking Glass River; 150 acres are farmland, 73 acres are open grassland, 125 acres are wetlands and 75 acres are forested.

2. This property consists of 81 acres. Forty acres are farmland, 19 acres are open grassland, 20 acres are forested and two acres are wetlands.

4. This property consists of 63 acres. Six acres are forested, while the remaining is farmland.

9. This property consists of 72 acres; 40 acres are forested, seven acres  are wetlands and 25 acres are open grassland.

15. This property consists of 30 acres. Seven acres are forest, seven acres are wetlands and 16 acres are grassland.

16. This 57.1 acre parcel has an extensive wetland of approximately 25 acres that is part of a much larger wetland through which Vermillion Creek passes as it flows to the Looking Glass River. Also on the property is an upland forest of about 14 acres and a grassland of 17 acres. The public roads that run along one side of the property provided attractive views of this scenic rural landscape.

17. This property consists of 27.5 acres. There is a nice 8.5-acre lake with approximately 2,300 feet of shoreline on the protected property. The rest of the land is a mixture of grassland, shrub land, and early successional woodland. Many native trees have been planted on the property and more plantings are planned.

Eaton County


3. This property consists of 140 acres, of which 80 acres are open grassland, 50 acres are forested and 10 acres are wetlands.

12. The easement covers approximately 80 acres. Approximately three-fourths of the easement area is floodplain forest and the remaining area is agricultural land. Of particular conservation significance is that the floodplain forest is the same type of system mapped by surveyors in the early 1800s. Another significant conservation feature of the easement is the protection of over 200 feet of the Thornapple River.

Hillsdale County


5. This property consists of 171 acres. One hundred and forty acres are farm land and the remainder is forested wetland.

6. This property consists of 51 acres of a forested valley through which a branch of the St. Joesph River flows.

7. This property consists of 114 acres of farmland and grassland.

8. This property consists of 118 acres of farmland.

18. This property consists of 81.5 acres of which 78 acres are farmland, and 3.5 acres are forested with 450 feet of natural forested shoreline on a 120 acre lake.

Ingham County


10. This property consists of 153 acres. Ninety five acres are farmland, and 58 acres are forested, with approximately half forested wetland.

Jackson County


11. This property consists of 26 acres of farmland and adjoins property #10 in Ingham County.

Montcalm County


14. This property consists of 57 acres. Forty acres are forest and 17 acres are wetlands.

Shiawasee County


13. This property consists of 40 acres. Ten acres are forest and 30 acres are wetlands.
